With an improved organizational system and quality-of-life improvements, this new version of the beloved LCG main game will be the perfect entry point for new players. The box has everything you need to start the Arkham campaign: including enough cards and accessories to even allow up to three other players to join you in your quest for the myth.

Note: Veteran players of the Mystery Town LCG can skip the information in the next section and skip to the "What's changed in the game?" section of this article.
What is "Card Edition"?
For those of you who have never played Cryptozoology before, it is a cooperative card game set in Lovecraftian horror in the early 1900s. As unspeakable evil and unknown horrors attempt to enter our world, one to four investigators are working to unravel mysterious mysteries and conspiracies before the time limit.
Each player takes on the role of one of the investigators and sets up a deck of cards representing that character's abilities and item assets.
During your turn, you can play cards, move your investigators from one location to another, investigate clues to advance the story, or attack (and hopefully defeat) monsters. Once all players have completed their turns, the game shifts focus to the mysterious conspiracy and creates new threats for you and your fellow investigators to deal with. If you delay for too long, the enemy's plans will be advanced, which may lead to unfavorable results in the script!
An investigator's settings depend on six values: health, sanity, and four skills. The number above the heart icon on their HP Investigator card represents how much physical damage the Investigator can take before being defeated. Their sanity is represented by a number on a blue brain icon, which represents how much "horror" they can endure before succumbing to madness.
An investigator's skills—Willpower, Intelligence, Combat, and Dexterity—are represented by the four numbers and symbols in the upper right corner of the investigator card. The number represents their proficiency in that particular area; the higher the number, the better. You can apply these skills to almost everything when playing a script. For example: use the investigator's combat skills to attack monsters or use intelligence to investigate clues. There is no guarantee that you will succeed in these challenges, so you will always need to stay alert and take advantage of opportunities when you can.
In addition to their skills, each investigator has their own strengths and weaknesses, literally! As part of your deck, you will have the investigator's specific prop cards and weakness cards. For example: Weathered Roland Banks has his trusty .38 Special, abilities that go well with his innate ability to spot clues while defeating monsters. However, as a man who wishes to maintain order, Sometimes Roland is forced to "cover up" the horrors he encounters, which hinders his progress. It may even cause mental trauma, permanently reducing his sanity.
There will also be other non-iconic weaknesses in your deck, which represent that the heroes of the Mythic LCG are not perfect beings... they are human, and humans are flawed. Despite these flaws, rising to the challenge and defeating the power of the myth is part of what makes this game so exciting!
How has the game changed?
To be honest, nothing about the game itself has changed. This is still the Trickster Card Edition that many have come to know and love over the past five years, and none of the cards included in the revised core set are new to the game. The rules are the same, the campaign is the same, and the experience is the same. Even the cards are largely the same, with the only difference being the inclusion of some higher-level cards from some of the game's earlier expansions to give new players more options when spending experience.
But even so, these cards already exist as part of the game, which means that if you already own all of the existing Trickster LCG products, you won't have anything you need in the Revised Core Set (unless you want to play Number of people increased to four!)
However, this is a great opportunity to introduce the game to friends or family. The revised core set contains everything newcomers need to start their Mystery Town LCG series, including a complete set of cards and components to support an initial campaign of up to four players .
Certain cards, such as the Investigator card pictured above, will have new art changes. However, their mechanics and values are exactly the same as before.
The storage inside the box has also been upgraded, meaning it's easier than ever to find specific cards. Each investigator is placed with all the cards from their suggested starting deck, and all the cards for each scenario are placed separately from the other cards, meaning you only need to shuffle the deck to start the game.
On top of that, there are some additional improvements, like new numbered resource and clue/threat markers (marks for larger units), and even an Investigator Captain marker!
If you've already played the Strange Tales LCG with friends but have been waiting to pick up a box yourself, you'll love getting the revised base game and opening the box to start playing right away. There really is no better time to invest in a fantastic game.
