【Classic and Innovation】
From the cover of the game, we used the patchwork boat representing the Tawu tribe among the 16 aboriginal tribes in Taiwan, and the flying fish graphics that are a specialty around Orchid Island.
Taiwan’s terrain is rich and varied, with a variety of coastal and mountainous terrains. As an island country, we chose the Dawu tribe, who are most closely connected with the sea, as the cover to convey the image of Taiwanese culture.
"Patchwork Showdown: Taiwanese Imagery" uses bold and eye-catching red to set the color tone, which is unique. Because this color is the most widely used color among the totems and patterns of Taiwanese aborigines. After adjustments and multiple attempts, we finally found a cover design with harmonious graphics and visual balance for the overall game.
For the game title, taking into account the harmony of the picture and vision, the colorful style of the old version of the Chinese title does not seem to fit in with our plan. We have changed it to simple and clear tones, and matched the Chinese font with the English version of the LOGO to present a brand new Chinese game title. visual design. The buttons embellished with the title are changed to a similar red tone that matches the main color tone. These small ideas add some sophistication to the cover and achieve the finishing touch.
Inheriting the design of the original game, on the outside of the box after opening the lid, you can see the Taiwanese version of the patchwork pattern used in the game surrounding it. All kinds of bright patchwork and different combinations of patterns make the overall box design more gorgeous. .
The distinctive and recognizable cover design allows people to feel the cultural imagery of Taiwan at a glance.
【Totem and Lines】
The most important game component in Patchwork Showdown is the patchwork tile. Taking aboriginal culture as the main design axis, the patchwork section of "Patchwork Showdown: Taiwanese Imagery" is mainly structured with various distinctive totems, lines, and rules. Such as the embroidery patterns of the Amis people, the surface patterns of the Atayal people, the hundred-step snake pattern of the Paiwan people, the geometric stripes of the Bunun people, etc. In order to recreate the hand-made atmosphere of the patchwork quilt, the texture effects of all panels have also been changed to woven texture designs, allowing players to relive the fun of this classic game with a more enhanced texture.
In addition, game components including the time board and button board also follow the theme color tone and are changed to a unique red color tone.
【Tradition and inheritance】
The quilt is an immortal traditional patchwork technique, and the aboriginal floral cloth is a precious culture worthy of our appreciation and attention.
We hope that through this board game, we can not only allow players to experience an interesting board game rich in Taiwanese characteristics, but also keep these two precious cultural relics in the hearts of everyone. I hope that while having fun, you can also feel the cultural charm and value that flows in the blood of everyone on this Formosa island.
As a game with the background of patchwork, our team has considered many elements that can represent Taiwan and how to add them to this precious game.
